Terms of use
Last updated 11 October 2026
These terms cover using the Shelf-Life website. They're written to be read, so they're short. By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use it.
About Shelf-Life
Shelf-Life is an independent project run by one person, a sole trader based in Northern Ireland, in the United Kingdom. The site gives information about video games: whether their servers are still running, how they're sold, and where to find them. It also runs a waitlist for a future service. Shelf-Life doesn't sell games or anything else.
Information is a guide, not a promise
We work hard to be accurate, but we can't guarantee that everything on the site is complete, correct or up to date.
- Shutdown dates come from publishers' own announcements, and publishers can change their plans.
- Formats and store details come partly from public game databases (IGDB and Wikidata), which can be incomplete.
- Prices come from the stores and services named next to them. They change often and can differ from what you see at checkout.
Always check with the shop or publisher before you buy. Nothing on Shelf-Life is financial or legal advice.
Shops, other websites and how we earn
Shelf-Life links to shops, stores, price-comparison sites and news sites that we don't run. We aren't responsible for their content, prices, products or how they treat your data. Anything you buy is between you and that shop.
Shelf-Life doesn't currently earn money from any link. Some price links from IsThereAnyDeal may earn IsThereAnyDeal a commission. If we ever start earning from links ourselves, we'll say so clearly next to them. You can choose to support Shelf-Life with a voluntary payment through the support link. It doesn't buy a service, perks or influence over what we publish.
Game names, covers and trademarks
Game names, covers, key art, screenshots, trailers, logos and trademarks belong to their owners. We show them only to identify and illustrate the games they belong to. Game details and art come from IGDB.com. Shelf-Life isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, any publisher, developer, platform holder or store, including Valve, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo and Twitch.
On the News page, headlines belong to the sites that published them. We show the headline, source and date, and link to the original story. Topics and the "Unconfirmed" label are added automatically from the words in each headline, so they can be wrong, and a story without the label hasn't been checked by us. If you publish one of these feeds and don't want it included, email us and we'll remove it.
If you own the rights to something on the site and want it changed or removed, email us at shelflifelogs@gmail.com and we'll deal with it promptly.
Using the site fairly
Please don't:
- try to break, overload or get around the site's security
- use automated tools to copy large parts of the site or send it large numbers of requests
- use the site for anything unlawful
We may block access from anyone who does.
The waitlist
Joining the waitlist doesn't create an account, and it doesn't commit you or us to anything. We may change or close the waitlist at any time. Our privacy notice explains what we do with your details.
Our own content
The site's design, code and text, including the shutdown ledger's summaries, belong to Shelf-Life. You're welcome to share links and quote small parts with a link back. Please don't copy the site or the ledger wholesale.
Our responsibility to you
The site is free, and we provide it as it is. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for any loss that comes from relying on information on the site, from the site being unavailable, or from websites we link to.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a consumer, your legal rights aren't affected.
Changes
We may update these terms as the site grows. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Northern Ireland. Disputes go to the courts of Northern Ireland. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live.
